Do you photograph weddings or newborns?

I am a Fort Worth custom photography studio specializing in family, children, high school seniors and couples. I only photograph maternity and newborns in the context of a family/couple session (family/couple session with a bump, if you will). I do not photograph weddings.

Do you sell digital files?

My ultimate goal as a boutique portrait photographer is to make beautiful images that stand the test of time and will be proudly displayed in your home. I specialize in delivering finished works of photographic art. Usually this translates to albums and large wall portraits that can be admired for years and shared with friends and family.

I make actual prints, canvases & albums the focus in my custom portraiture services, and do not offer the option to purchase all digital files at this time. When a client wants to purchase digital files, that can indicate several things. It may indicate that a client prefers to do their own printing, which often means the quality I provide will not be apart of the process any longer. Additionally, it can mean the client is only interested in having digital copies of the images, which is not the goal of the type of custom portrait art I create. Because digital files can become corrupted and eventually lost, and because I am so passionate about providing the best possible products and service to my clients, a wide variety of the highest quality, archival grade prints, albums, and canvases can be purchased directly through me. They are all guaranteed for life.

I understand that you will want to electronically share and enjoy your portraits online. Low resolution digital images of ordered images are available complimentary for electronic posting and sharing. Your $1500 order is accompanied by the high-resolution digital originals and are intended for archival purposes, but may be printable up to 8×10.

How much can I expect to spend?

Almost all of my clients build their own package a-la-carte. My Luxe Portrait sessions require an order minimum of $1500. It is entirely up to you what you would like to create from your portraits! If you are looking for just a few 8x10s and 5x7s, then my Simply Amanda Portrait Event session is the best option for your needs. I believe that portraits really come to life when they are carefully printed and displayed in your home, and you will love what I have to offer.

How long is a session?

A Luxe portrait session typically lasts up to an hour and a half. A Simply Amanda portrait sessions lasts 20 minutes.

What is a lifestyle portrait session?

Lifestyle portrait photography is a style of photography that is more relaxed, less formal posing, and takes place outside of a studio.

Where does my photography session take place?

I always shoot on-location and have many favorite locations in the Fort Worth area. During your style consultation, we will discuss this in more detail & decide upon the perfect location for you.

What should we wear?

A few general rules of thumb…

1) Don’t wear white. White draws the eye, and detracts away from the portrait’s primary focus- your faces and expressions. Jewel tones & fall colors almost always photograph nicely, while neon & bright colors such as coral and orange don’t typically photograph as well.

2) Layer & accessorize. Think jewelry, belts, scarves, hair accessories, cardigans, boots, jackets… the right combination of these really completes the outfit.

3) Coordinate instead of match. One great way to coordinate is to choose a pattern (perhaps your daughter’s dress), which has a few different colors. Thread those colors through the other family members’ clothing pieces and accessories. It’s usually a good idea to have only one (two tops) family member in a pattern.

We will talk about this in more detail during your style consultation!

What should I bring?

The best way to cultivate a fun, relaxed, enjoyable session is to plan no other activities on your session day (except fun family time around the house!). Plan to dress your children in their portrait clothing once you arrive at the location… and arrive a few minutes early to get everyone ready.

It is a good idea to bring a comb/brush & powder to freshen up, hair spray for fly-aways in case of a windy day, tissue for runny noses, and your kid’s favorite jokes. Come rested and relaxed, and ready to have some fun!

When is my payment due?

In order to secure your session date, your non-refundable Retainer Fee is due within 5 days of booking your session. At the time your order is placed at your ordering appointment, please be ready to pay for 100% of your total order. Orders are custom-made and therefore non-refundable. Just keep in mind we can’t process your order until we receive full payment. We take deposits in advance to help you budget, so feel free to space out payments!

What methods of payment are available to me?

We currently accept cash and check. The ability to pay with credit (VISA, MasterCard, American Express & Discover) is coming soon.

What if the weather is bad or we have to cancel due to sickness?

Life happens, I know, so if we do need to reschedule do to weather, we will find another day that works well for all parties. Our session design fees are non-refundable, but you may use it for a one-time reschedule (if cancel within 24-48 hours of your session date) within 6 months of your original appointment date.

What about hair & makeup?

I highly recommend having your hair and makeup professionally done for your session. I highly recommend Goldwaves Salon. Molly & Natalie often work with my clients, but all Goldwaves makeup artists are fantastic. Their blowouts leave your hair looking healthy and beautiful.

When will I get my final products?

During your ordering session (approximately 2 weeks after your portrait session), your completed order will be placed when paid in full (payment plans are available). Your order will be available 4-5 weeks later. Albums and wall displays will be available 6-8 weeks after your order is placed.

How do you describe your editing style?

It is always my goal to edit with a crisp, clean style and to ensure that 10, 20 or 50 years down the road, we can look back on the images that are timeless and beautiful. I typically do not add artistic or vintage filters to the finished images. I do edit in such a way that is true to color and flatters skin tones.

Do you travel?

A session includes a location within 15 minutes of my home office. Travel fees are quoted on an individual basis.
