hi there!

Welcome to my blog and thanks for stopping by! Here you will find my favorite images from recent sessions as well as other fun stuff such as great specials, ideas, new items, and cool links. You’ll want to bookmark my site and visit often!

If I had to choose a few words to describe the type of photography I desire to create, it's fun, natural, funky, creative, fresh, different... for seniors, I'd throw in casual, edgy, classy, stylish, simple. I don't prefer the forced smiles and poses (though when working with a large family, it's sometimes the necessary evil)- I want to capture the natural smiles and expressions that make you...well, you.

I look forward to meeting you!!

{founders fables} – fort worth headshot photographer

You may remember recently my mentioning my good friend, Laurie, who has recently written the book “Founders’ Fables”. I had the opportunity to photograph her headshot for her website. Check it out at www.foundersfables.com!

Founders’ Fables is a children’s book to help explain our most treasured American values, based on the principles of our Founding Fathers and the concept of limited government. Through the use of funny and memorable characters, ten simple fables address these American values, often believed too complicated for kids to comprehend.

{new addition} – fort worth family photographer

If you’ve been following me over the last two or three years, this family will look very familiar to you. Our good friends have added one more to their family. This sweet little girl is now 4 months old! My how time flies. What a sweet family  enjoying one another during this sweet moment.

Amanda is excited to start offering framing! She just ordered a beautiful variety of samples and is ready to show them off! She’ll be offering a fall special on framing so keep an eye out! More info to come.

{baby dawson is here!} – fort worth newborn photographer

Okay, so maybe it’s been awhile {since Dawson arrived}. Posts don’t make it up on my blog as quickly as they used to! But my baby, Dawson, was born April 21 at a whopping 9 lbs 8 oz! And, excitedly, I had a successful VBAC (vaginal birth after caesarean)! I was planning for a natural (non-medicated) birth as well. As badly as I wanted that edipural at 6cm, I was progressing too quickly for it and I got that natural birth I was wanting (like it or not at the time!).

Perhaps surprisingly (considering Dawson’s my second child), I actually photographed his newborn portraits AND sent out a birth announcement. Since I sadly couldn’t send it to everyone, I thought I’d post it below for everyone to see!

{jwc easter tea update} – fort worth children’s photography

Great news! After a busy work week, I was able to finish and deliver (today!) the JWC Easter Tea portraits to the department presidents’ boxes. For those awaiting yours, they should be delivered to you via your president at your next dept meeting! Happy Easter!

And I can’t post without a few images! This darling little girl couldn’t take her eyes off the bunny. Seriously. Of all I shot, 75% of them were of her doing this. She was smitten!

I was finally able to get her to look… not with too much of a smile- but she was looking!

{three little ones} – fort worth children’s photographer

Here is a sneak peak of Saturday’s session. Do you guys remember Saturday? It was a beautiful day, but extremely windy. Man, was it windy. In spite of that, I think we got some darling shots. These three kiddos are cousins. We had the grandparents and parents there for the shoot. They were all so helpful. I couldn’t have done it without them. Seriously.

Here’s the oldest cousin. I was so thankful for her. She did exactly what we were asking (sit, look at the camera and smile) and did it beautifully!

This little one was just too adorable. She had so many expressions, it was hard to narrow them down to the cutest! I just loved these of her.

And this little guy did exactly what two year old little boys do… move around! He was all over the place. He wouldn’t hardly stay in one place for very long, but he really took to my step ladder.

All boy. Flying that plane around making the “plane” sound with his mouth. Too cute.

And getting all three to sit, smile and look at me was a bit of a challenge, but we captured a couple. Here’s one!

{jwc easter tea portraits} – fort worth children’s photography

Well, this weekend I had my last two sessions for awhile. I’m hoping to take several months off to adjust to having two little ones at home but am booking sessions for the fall. Saturday, I photographed three cousins, aged 8, 2 and 1. It was quite a high energy time and it definitely wore me and my 38 week pregnant self out. I came home, put my toddler to bed, picked up the house and was asleep by 8:30! I’ll be blogging these hopefully later this week.

THEN (what I was thinking, I’m not sure!), the next afternoon, I photographed Easter Portraits for the Junior Woman’s Club’s Easter Tea. I did this last year and photographed 25 little ones. This year, however, the Bunny came out of retirement and brought many of it’s followers with her. I photographed 45 (yes, 45!) children/groups of children/families in 1.5 hours. It was very high paced and exciting! Shockingly, I wasn’t too tired the rest of the day. I thought I’d blog a few of the sweet/funny ones.

You might recognize this little guy from last year. He was full of energy last year, but a little somber (tired, I’m guessing) this year. He didn’t want to sit by himself so we tried getting him with momma. He wasn’t really interested in looking at the camera, but I captured this sweet snuggly moment of the two of them. They came back towards the end of the time and we tried a family portrait instead. He had a few more smiles to share then!

8

We had children of all ages!

41

We photographed families this year, which provided a little more variety.

35

This was one of my favorites! We absolutely could NOT get all three kiddos to 1) sit 2) look at the camera and 3) smile all at the same time. A very tough combo indeed! But we got them all having a good ol time. I just loved this one in black and white.

2 39

It was so great to have the bunny out this year, but he definitely caused a little slow down in the pace as some kids had what I call the “santa clause” syndrome. They cried when the bunny came anywhere near them! It was quite the miracle we got the one we did on the right of the little girl not crying. The mom was SUPER sweet in reassuring me she’s okay if we only get one of her daughter crying. Low expectations are awfully nice sometimes!

26

And then we had a few who wanted to be in the picture with the bunny, just didn’t want to get too close!

21

This was the second who didn’t want to get too close. It just cracked me up.

{my family}- sommer photography

We had our family’s portraits taken recently by my dearest friend Sommer Carlin of Sommer Photography. You should check her out- her work’s amazing! She’s also running an amazing promotion right now- $200 off a newborn session! Check it out.

Sommer was a sport, to say the least! This is my favorite of our family portraits… and you’ll notice Hudson was NOT looking at the camera. That was pretty much how the shoot went. Getting Hudson to do three things at once- sit, smile & look at the camera- was impossible! But at least he’s doing two of the three here, right? I have a whole new appreciation for the moms and dads on that side of the camera, feeling terrible that their child’s not cooperating. They’re not necessarily a bad child- they’re just a child!

And as crazy as it seems, this “shoe” picture is my absolute favorite from the entire shoot. I just love the colors and textures of the porch and how it works perfectly with the colors we’re wearing. I want a humongous canvas of it for our guest bedroom… but I’m still trying to talk hubby into that purchase:)

{album} – fort worth children photographer

Many hours in the works, I finally finished Hudson’s album that encompasses the first 18 months of his life. From the hospital to the big boy bed, my little boy is growing up! I’ve been needing to create a sample album for clients to see just how beautiful and AMAZING my albums are. So, of course, what better subject than my little Hudson for my sample album :) My 5×5 & 8×8 albums are a much simpler design, but my 10×10 albums have a more unique, special look to them that perfectly compliments your most beloved images.

{cozumel, grand cayman & jamaica} – fort worth travel photographer

As promised, a few fun snaps from our recent (7 night Royal Caribbean!) cruise to Cozumel, Grand Cayman, and Jamaica. Each shot has a fun little story to it.

IMG_9803

We were warned by a seasoned caribbean cruiser prior to our stop in Grand Cayman that we’d see chickens EVERYWHERE… and to be sure to get an ironic shot of one in front of the KFC. Too funny. They WERE in the most random places.

IMG_9753

We were also warned about iguanas, that we’d see them everywhere. We did see one in Grand Cayman (a BIG one!), but this one was seen in Cozumel as we walked along the ocean. I just love the blue water in the background to contrast the bright green. You have to look for a second to see the iguana as it blends in to the rock.

IMG_9961

And this is where we DIDN’T stay while we were in Jamaica! We took a four hour tour around the island and the Ritz Carlton hotel was one of our many stops. We were told the rooms are/can be $1500 a night! We got to walk around the grounds and pretend for about 15 minutes that we were one of “them”… then we got back in our tour bus and moved on:)

IMG_9787

And this is a self-portrait of me and my hubby in Cozumel. We broke our bank to just GO on the cruise, so at each port, we didn’t really do anything (like $$$ excursions) except walk to the main shopping area, enjoying the scenery as we went (taking lots of pictures!). We were told the walk to the shopping area at Cozumel was about 3 miles. I’m not so sure about that, but I do know I got more exercise than I’ve had in a LONG time (which of course justified all the eating I was doing). We had decided we’d drop the money to take a taxi back. We ended up splurging on a carriage ride. We have always wanted to take one around downtown Fort Worth, but never have quite made it happen, so we got to enjoy our first (and probably last) carriage ride in Cozumel. Boy was it bumpy. Baby wasn’t liking me too much during the ride!
