{become a fan} – fort worth photographer

I’ve been a faithful “facebooker”, personally speaking, for three years now (and have LOVED it) and have posted my photography work there, but have finally created a “fan page” officially for my business. I created it yesterday and in the last 24 hours, I’ve gone from 2 fans (me & Hudson) to 99! It’s been so exciting to see my fanbase soar!

If you’d like to join me on facebook and keep up with my goings on there, click here and click the “become a fan” button at the top. I’m still working the kinks out, so PLEASE let me know if you run into any problems.

{twitter} – fort worth photographer

Twitter twitter twitter. I hear so much about twitter EVERYWHERE and I just don’t get it. Now, I am normally pretty quick to advance with technology but I’ve been dragging my feet on twitter b/c it just seems stupid and pointless. I sorta think that the technology people out there couldn’t think of anything else to create (you know how they are always releasing new things to make the most recent new thing obsolete) so they made twitter.

Now, I’m willing to be convinced that I need to jump on the bandwagon, but I’m going to need to hear some good argument why it’s beneficial to “tweet”. If you would like to try to convince me to start “tweeting”, the person who actually succeeds will win a gift print size (4×6, 5×7, 8×10) of any of my art pieces.

{”getting off auto” workshop} – fort worth photographer

I am offering a workshop this fall that will teach the basics of photography in a very non-technical, easy to understand way with the goal of helping you “get off auto”. The workshop will be held at my home, Saturday, September 26 at 1:00pm. It will last anywhere from one to two hours, depending on the length of the Q&A time. The cost will be $30 and because of the nature of the location and my desire to keep things intimate, the workshop is limited to the first 10 people who register.

And for those who attended my “How to Take Better Pictures of your Children” workshop, please know this workshop will be held indoors :)

{slightly new look} – fort worth child photographer

I’ve been wanting to update my galleries for forever and FINALLY got around to it this month. Once I (well, almost) finished that little project, I decided I was bored with my site. Thankfully, my site has a little versatility to it so I didn’t have to go out and buy a new one and start all over. So, I’ve made a few little changes that will hopefully tide me over for at least another year. You’ll have to drop by and take a look.

And because I can’t post without a picture, here are a few from Hudson’s first year portraits. Hasn’t he grown into quite the handsome little man? I love his smile,  but he sure has “the look” that reminds me of a Baby Gap ad that I can’t get enough of. He melts my heart.

He self posed himself. I couldn’t have done a better job!

Gotta share some of his smiles. He’s not all “mr. serious”.

{nassau, bahamas} – fort worth travel photographer

Can I just say I love what I do? I am married to the most sweet and supportive husband EVER, get to stay home with my sweet little Hudson AND create beautiful art with my camera. Good thing cameras can go anywhere. My hubby, myself and my camera (notice no baby!) went on a Royal Carribean cruise last month to the Bahamas. It was so fun to take pictures of landscapes you don’t see much around here… palm trees, cool old weathered boats, oceans, beaches… In case you weren’t aware, I do offer my art for sale. I also decided I’d like to create a card line of my travel photography sometime in this next year… so keep an eye out on my blog for the release!

I fell in love with this door. I love doors.

This is our moto we rented to go all over the island. It was SO much fun. Adam did try going awfully (seemingly) fast sometimes. Oh, and they drive on the left side of the road. We (seriously) almost go hit by a big truck turning out of a parking lot b/c Adam’s not used to having to look right right before turning right. I only rode- he kept asking if I wanted to drive and I was like, “heck no!”. I would’ve gotten us both killed.

We found this beautiful little, totally secluded beach in our little self guided excursion. It was amazing and Adam’s probably going to kill me for posting this pic of him.

Too bad this palm tree wasn’t all green. Oh, well. I still love it-

brown leaves and all.

{Christmas in July?} – fort worth portrait photographer

I heard on the radio the other day that stores are about to “unveil” their Christmas merchandise- in July! I always thought September was a little early, but this is ridiculous. But I guess for those companies that produce Christmas merchandise, they’re preparing all year round about this “unveiling”.

Along the same lines, although Christmas is 6 months away, if you’re wanting Christmas portraits and cards this year, you will want to start thinking about that. In order to have your Christmas cards to you by early December (and not stress myself out in the process), my deadline for shoots is October 31st. For those procrastinators, I will accept “Christmas shoots” in November but please know I will apply a rush fee.

{”getting off auto” workshop} – fort worth photographer

I am planning on offering a workshop this fall that will teach the basics of photography in a very non-technical, easy to understand way with the goal of helping you “get off auto”. I am in the beginning stages of planning & looking at the following dates. If this sounds like something you’d be interested in attending, I’d love to hear from you and what date you’d be able (or unable) to attend.

I’m looking at the following dates:
Saturday September 5
Saturday September 26
Saturday October 3
The time is TBD, but I’m leaning towards either mid morning or early/mid afternoon (depending on the feedback).
