I’m sure this won’t surprise anyone, but I went to Braum’s today to price match their grocery items to see how they compare with walmart (I haven’t been back to WM yet so I’m going off memory with their prices). They faired amazingly well- they were about the same on several items and even beat walmart on several items, which I was excited about. In case any of you happen to live by a braums & are interested, I thought I’d post my findings:
Feta Cheese- $3.29 (comparable to walmart)
Butter (4 sticks/box)- $2.19
Cheese (8 oz grated or block)- $1.59 (WAY less then walmart)
Yogurt (6 oz)- $.57
Eggs (dozen large)- $1.73 (same as WM)
Cottage Cheese (16oz)- $1.69
OJ (gallon)- $3.99 (I think this might be a good deal. I pay $2.08 for a 64oz carton of generic wm OJ)
Milk (gallon)- $3.29 (the braums lady on the phone who told me $2.50 was mistaken, but it’s still cheaper then wm’s $5 gallon of hormone free milk)
1/2 gallon ice cream- $4.29
Red potatoes (5 lb bag)- $2.89
Salad mix (10 oz)- $2.19/ spinach 6oz $1.29
Cole Slaw (16oz)- $1.29
Apples- Gala $1.29/lb, Fuji $1.29/lb, Granny $.99/lb
Ground Chuck Beef (2 lb roll)- $5.19 for 80/20 & $4.19 for 73/27 (I think this is comparable if not better then wm)
Chicken (boneless skinless hormone free)- $6.19 for 1.65 lbs (Not a great deal)
Bananas- $.59/lb (comparable to wm)
So the moral of the story is, if you just need the basics (milk, oj, bread, cheese, eggs, butter, basic fruit) and don’t want to mess with Walmart, Braums is the best, least expensive option… as their dairy products are all made with their hormone/antibiotic free milk they make. Happy shopping!
