{not so long ago} – fort worth photographer

Below is a interestingly funny email I received recently. Thought I’d pass it along for good humor.

Comments Made in the Year 1955!
That’s only 53 years ago!

‘I’ll tell you one thing, if things keep going the way they are, it’s going to be impossible to buy a week’s groceries for $20.00.’
‘Have you seen the new cars coming out next year?  It won’t be long before $2,000.00 will only buy a used one.’
‘If cigarettes keep going up in price, I’m going to quit.  A quarter a pack is ridiculous.
‘Did you hear the post office is thinking about charging a dime just to mail a letter.’
‘If they raise the minimum wage to $1.00, nobody will be able to hire outside help at the store.’
‘When I first started driving, who would have thought gas would someday cost 19 cents a gallon.  Guess we’d be better off leaving the car in the garage.’
‘Kids today are impossible.  Those duck tail hair cuts make it impossible to stay groomed.  Next thing you know, boys will be wearing their hair as long as the girls.’
‘I’m afraid to send my kids to the movies any more.  Ever since they let Clark Gable get by with saying DAMN in GONE WITH THE WIND, it seems every new movie has either HELL of DAMN in it.’
‘I read the other day where some scientist thinks it’s possible to put a man on the moon by the end of the century.  They even have some fellows they call astronauts preparing for it down in  Texas .’
‘Did you see where some baseball player just signed a contract for $75,000 a year just to play ball?  It wouldn’t surprise me if someday they’ll be making more than the President.’
‘I never thought I’d see the day all our kitchen appliances would be electric.  They are even making electric typewriters now.’
‘It’s too bad things are so tough nowadays.  I see where a few married women are having to work to make ends meet.’
‘It won’t be long before young couples are going to have to hire someone to watch their kids so they can both work.’
‘Marriage doesn’t mean a thing any more, those Hollywood stars seem to be getting divorced at the drop of a hat.’
‘I’m afraid the Volkswagen car is going to open the door to a whole lot of foreign business.’
‘Thank goodness I won’t live to see the day when the Government takes half our income in taxes.  I sometimes wonder if we are electing the best people to congress.’
‘The drive-in restaurant is convenient in nice weather, but I seriously doubt they will ever catch on.’
‘There is no sense going to Lincoln or Omaha anymore for a weekend, it costs nearly $15.00 a night to stay in a hotel.’
‘No one can afford to be sick anymore, at $35.00 a day in the hospital it’s too rich for my blood.’
‘If they think I’ll pay 50 cents for a hair cut, forget it.’
I hope you all had a special Christmas and are enjoying this New Year’s Eve as well. It has been an exciting and wonderful year. I have enjoyed working with such amazing people and look forward to another exciting year of beautiful portraits!

{braums!} – fort worth photographer

I’m currently wondering if I’m the last person in Texas to learn about Braum’s AWESOME dairy products. I’ve heard of braums all my life being that I grew up in Oklahoma and they’re everywhere, but I didn’t realize how excellent their products (their animals are raised on a healthy, hormone and antibiotic free diet) AND prices are. That’s the kicker for me. At walmart, a gallon of hormone free milk costs almost $5 but at a braum’s store, it costs only $2.50!!!  That’s the same price as normal milk that’s chalk full of who knows what. And WHY (I ask myself) have I been buying milk and eggs anywhere else? As soon as these two gallons currently sitting in my fridge are gone, I’m shopping Braums- and supporting this quality, family owned business. Ready, set, go!

A few more of the carlins. I think I’m finished.

I loved their super casual outfits

{more of the carlins} – fort worth photographer

A few more of my friends. Maybe more to come…

And one of my sweet friend by herself.

{recent couple} – fort worth photographer

These are some good friends of mine of whom I photographed a week or so ago. Brian found this awesome spot downtown Ftw. I think it used to be a church but now it’s a police station of some sort. I loved the texture of the brick and cobblestone. You may recall Sommer is the friend who photographed Adam and I’s maternity portraits. Anyway, there were lots of fun ones- I’m sure I’ll be posting more as I find time.

{mommy alert} – fort worth child photographer

I was recently introduced to www.caregiversmarketplace.com, which is an organization whose soul mission is to ease some of the financial burden of caring for an ill, elderly, or disabled family member or friend. They team with companies like Kimberly Clark to provide rebates on products you already purchase. Check it out. For the mommies out there using Huggies diapers, you’ll definitely want to check it out!

Also, a few from a recent little session with a dear friend. She is due in April and has the sweetest little three year old. Her hubby’s joined the military and is in boot camp as we speak. He’ll be away for several months and won’t be able to be there for the birth. Deena’s probably one of the strongest people I know, but it’s still going to be a time of stretching. We’re all praying for the perfectly easy baby, right Deena?!

There’s no question who her mommy is, right?

Her mommy’s tickles sure got her laughing!

I love the above right one. What a perfect solemn expression.

{more of Hudson} – fort worth child photographer

some of more Hudson. He was about 4.5 months in these.

It’s so hard to pick a favorite, but if I had to, I might pick this one. I like his sweet smile and the angle from which I took it.

I sort of like this one too. It’s different. I just had a funny thought. I put “do not copy” on my watermark to prohibit stealing. It’s funny I put it on these b/c, seriously, who’s going to try to rip them off but me? :)

Everyone needs a beautiful portrait with their favorite lovey, right?

{mnm- phrase origins}

This week’s contest will again be “phrase origins”. I’ll tell you a common phrase and you’ll tell me what it means and where you think it originated. You’ll receive a point for each you guess correctly, so you could receive two points per phrase.

This week’s phrases are:

1) “Warts and all”

2) “Jump on the bandwagon”

Rules: Deadline- monday at midnight. Who wins- the person with the most points. How to submit answers- email them to amandalynnphoto@yahoo.com. I’ll actually let you use the internet this week:) Prize- I will edit one of your photos.

{pettiskirt contest} – fort worth child photographer

Just an update on my pettiskirt contest. To enter, submit a cute photo of your precious little girl (accepting ages 6 and under) to amandalynnphoto@yahoo.com. The deadline is the end of February. I will pick my favorite from the pictures of course- so send a good one that shows off your cutie! Feel free to tell me why your daughter should be the winner.

The winner will receive a complimentary portrait session modeling the pettiskirt as well as an 8×10 of your favorite image. I will announce the winner early March- so keep posted! The winner’s mom will be asked to provide me with your daughter’s measurements (waist and waist to knee) so be ready for that. The designer will then custom make a petti to fit your daughter. I’m not sure yet what color petti I’ll have her make. I’ll choose a color that compliments the winner.

We’ll also need to accessorize the skirt so, mom, be ready to dig in her closet to find some fun leggings, shoes, shirts, etc. I’ll have some ideas that will help.

{Hudson’s latest} – fort worth child photographer

Here’s Hudson at almost 5 months. I think he’s just adorable (of course). I found this hat at baby gap and the jon jon is compliments of the ever amazing Barbie Ford

I have so many more to look through. I just haven’t had a chance yet. Rest assured I’ll be posting more in a couple weeks once the Christmas rush has passed.

{the osborne family} – fort worth child photographer

Say hello to the Osborne family! We shot at the coolest location, the Hawk’s Creek Golf course clubhouse. An interesting tidbit about it was where it is built (in Westworth Village) was country back in the day (1925) and the wealthy of Fort Worth would build their country homes here. Amon Carter had his built near this one, but apparently his wasn’t built of rock, so it didn’t last. It’s one amazing structure- sort of resembles a castle.

this is my blooper for this shoot. I just love the expressions of the parents. And the son’s cracks me up too! He was just chilling while the his sister hammed it up.

The first picture reminds me of myself when I was younger, always trying to love on my step brother. And of course, he, in his macho-ness, had to play mr. cool and sluff off his little sister.

So full of energy. We took several run breaks.

I love this sequence. I had 5 or 6 I loved- same pose, slightly different expressions and hand motions. Do you LOVE this apron peasant top? I’m pretty much in love with it and those adorable pants. Koodos to Barbie Ford of Posh Petunia.

So dreamy.

I think this is my favorite. I just love her expression. And wouldn’t you know she posed herself.

I really like this one too, though.

Another pettiskirt! I love them. They go with just about anything- including cowboy boots. Thanks to Angela Wilde with Miss Things Boutique for her amazing work!

What girl doesn’t just love to twirl in such a fun skirt!
