vote

Don’t forget to vote November 4th.

Are you still undecided? Let me share with you what someone passed on to me that should bring clarity to the decision. Decide what are the most important 4 or 5 issues to you, whether it be life, marriage, national security, education, taxes, etc. Find out how each candidate stands on each issue and choose the candidate that stands on your side of the issues.

What you should NOT do is choose a candidate for superficial reasons, such as how they look or how well they speak. And don’t choose one who promises change for changes sake. Find out what kind of changes they want to make and vote intelligently according to your values. Vote with your head, not your emotions.

If you don’t know how each candidate stands, you can visit www.freemarketvotersguide.com or call 972.423.8889 x104 for a comprehensive, non-partisan voters guide.

mnm… something different

I’m getting bored with “name the woman” so this week’s contest will be movie quotes. You will tell get a point for telling me from what movie it was quoted and another point for telling me what character quoted it.

1) “All I’m saying is that somewhere out there is the man you are supposed to marry. And if you don’t get him first, somebody else will, and you’ll have to spend the rest of your life knowing that somebody else is married to your husband.”

2) We don’t usually pick up hitchhikers… but I’m-a gonna go with my instincts on this one. Saddle up partner!

3) Man #1: You seem a decent fellow. I hate to kill you. Man#2: You seem a decent fellow. I hate to die.

4) “Annie, when you’re attracted to someone, it just means that your subconscious is attracted to their subconscious, subconsciously. So what we think of as fate is just two neuroses knowing that they are a perfect match.”

Same rules. Deadline: monday at midnight. Restrictions: no internet research… honors system. Prize: I jazz up one of your photos. Who wins: the person with the most points.

Don’t forget about my pettiskirt contest, spring parent workshop on how to take better pictures of your children (10 person minimum), and my needing to expand my maternity portfolio. Please pass on the word to any interested parties.

Go!

Christmas Cards!

Check out our some new and some not so new 2008 Christmas Cards. If you have been thinking about sending out Christmas cards from a previous session this year, please give me a call! If you have been toying with the idea of getting your child/family portraits done this year for Christmas cards, I have a couple openings left. To incentivize you to call quick & schedule your session, I’ll offer a buy 3 (sets of 25) and get one free for the first two to book.

These are 5×7 sized cards:

Don’t I have the most beautiful baby in the world? Well, after yours’ of course:) The above one is I think my favorite. The image looks like it was made for the design.

I know, I know. She has a halloween petti on. It was just too cute a fit besides that though…

These below are 5×5 cards:

first pettiskirt contest!!!

Exciting news!!! I am hosting my first ever designer contest. To enter, submit a cute photo of your precious little girl (accepting ages 5 and under) to amandalynnphoto@yahoo.com before November 3rd. I will pick my favorite from the pictures of course- so send a good one that shows off your cutie!

The winner will win a complimentary portrait session modeling the pettiskirt as well as an 8×10 of your favorite image. I will announce the winner on November 3rd so keep posted! The winner’s mom will be asked to provide me with your daughter’s measurements (waist and waist to knee) so be ready for that. The designer will then custom make a petti to fit your daughter. I’m not sure yet what color petti I’ll have her make. I’ll choose a color that compliments the winner.

We’ll also need to accessorize the skirt so, mom, be ready to dig in her closet to find some fun leggings, shoes, shirts, etc. I’ll have some ideas that will help. The model (below)’s mom was so awesome to work with to accessorize Marilee. I couldn’t have done it without her.

Good news. I’ve found someone to slice/html my splash page, so that should be debuted any day now and the contest winner’s will FINALLY be revealed!!! Thank you for your patience.

my huddy-buddy

Here’s  my little man. Again sporting his “concerned” look. I did FINALLY get a smile out of him. It wasn’t his million dollar smile, but it still melts my heart.

I played with a friend’s lens for these shots. I won’t go into the details, but it’s so awesomely able to get the eyes tack sharp so much better than my zoom lenses. I just love images where the subject’s eyes are as sharp as glass. Gotta put that lens on my wish list for next year!

could use your help

I’m very excited about the opportunities I’ve had to photograph works of my pettiskirt & hat designers and am preparing to photograph a couple pieces from a clothing designer I’ve recently struck up a relationship with. Can I say again how excited I am! I just love photographing kiddos in fun new things!

With this new little thing I’ve got going on, I’d like to utilize a gallery on my site to showcase these lady’s work. What I’d do is provide their information (name & where to find their work for purchase) and then show a few of my favorite images of my models in the clothes/hat, etc. I’m not sure what to name or title this new little idea. I’ve come up with a few words but was hoping you could throw out any others I’ve not thought of (or tell me which ones you like from what I have listed). It’ll be what I title my gallery & how I mention it on my blog when featuring future pieces.

-designer, fashion, feature, spotlight, corner, couture

They could be used like designer corner… fashion feature… designer couture…

any ideas?

mnm winning picture

All day yesterday I was thinking it was tuesday. Thus why I posted the winner before the deadline. I actually got a second entry later that day (she was indeed confused when I told her she missed the deadline:) so rachel H and shannon G are both this week’s winner! The image above is rachel H’s cute son. She and her husband both are budding photographers:)

mnm winner & mmbnt

Congratulations Rachel H for winning this week’s “mind numbing monday” contest! The correct answers were:

1) Belle Starr (the caves are near my home town of Wilburton, OK!)

2) Annie Sullivan

3) Kristi Yamaguchi

4) Shirley Temple Black

5) Lucille Ball

Email me the picture you’d like me to work on!

So, I’ve never really had a non-profit organization I really had a strong connection with or desire to donate my time to, but I think I’ve maybe found one finally and I’m VERY excited. I think sometime next year, I’ll have a special time where I donate a portion of my profits to their agency. The organization is the “MOTHERS MILK BANK OF NORTH TEXAS“. They area an agency that provides premature & critically ill infants with donor human milk when their mother’s own milk is not available. Today, I became a milk donor! I’m so excited b/c it’s something that not just anyone can do. I can use this stage I’m in and help save precious little lives.

An interesting piece of trivia: The largest donation they’ve ever received from a donor was 12,000 ounces! That’s 100 gallons of milk!!!

You too might be able to have a hand in saving these little lives without making any big changes in your lifestyle. Tom Thumb has offered to donate (1% of your purchase) to the milk bank with each purchase you make. It’s that easy! Just tell them mmbnt’s Good Neighbor Number upon checkout: 11063. You can also link your albertson’s card to the number 49001005363 as they have committed to donate as well!
