hi there!

Welcome to my blog and thanks for stopping by! Here you will find my favorite images from recent sessions as well as other fun stuff such as great specials, ideas, new items, and cool links. You’ll want to bookmark my site and visit often!

If I had to choose a few words to describe the type of photography I desire to create, it's fun, natural, funky, creative, fresh, different... for seniors, I'd throw in casual, edgy, classy, stylish, simple. I don't prefer the forced smiles and poses (though when working with a large family, it's sometimes the necessary evil)- I want to capture the natural smiles and expressions that make you...well, you.

I look forward to meeting you!

Many hours in the works, I finally finished Hudson’s album that encompasses the first 18 months of his life. From the hospital to the big boy bed, my little boy is growing up! I’ve been needing to create a sample album for clients to see just how beautiful and AMAZING my albums are. So, of course, what better subject than my little Hudson for my sample album :) My 5×5 & 8×8 albums are a much simpler design, but my 10×10 albums have a more unique, special look to them that perfectly compliments your most beloved images.

{cozumel, grand cayman & jamaica} – fort worth travel photographer

As promised, a few fun snaps from our recent (7 night Royal Caribbean!) cruise to Cozumel, Grand Cayman, and Jamaica. Each shot has a fun little story to it.

IMG_9803

We were warned by a seasoned caribbean cruiser prior to our stop in Grand Cayman that we’d see chickens EVERYWHERE… and to be sure to get an ironic shot of one in front of the KFC. Too funny. They WERE in the most random places.

IMG_9753

We were also warned about iguanas, that we’d see them everywhere. We did see one in Grand Cayman (a BIG one!), but this one was seen in Cozumel as we walked along the ocean. I just love the blue water in the background to contrast the bright green. You have to look for a second to see the iguana as it blends in to the rock.

IMG_9961

And this is where we DIDN’T stay while we were in Jamaica! We took a four hour tour around the island and the Ritz Carlton hotel was one of our many stops. We were told the rooms are/can be $1500 a night! We got to walk around the grounds and pretend for about 15 minutes that we were one of “them”… then we got back in our tour bus and moved on:)

And this is a self-portrait of me and my hubby in Cozumel. We broke our bank to just GO on the cruise, so at each port, we didn’t really do anything (like $$$ excursions) except walk to the main shopping area, enjoying the scenery as we went (taking lots of pictures!). We were told the walk to the shopping area at Cozumel was about 3 miles. I’m not so sure about that, but I do know I got more exercise than I’ve had in a LONG time (which of course justified all the eating I was doing). We had decided we’d drop the money to take a taxi back. We ended up splurging on a carriage ride. We have always wanted to take one around downtown Fort Worth, but never have quite made it happen, so we got to enjoy our first (and probably last) carriage ride in Cozumel. Boy was it bumpy. Baby wasn’t liking me too much during the ride!

{dear friends} – fort worth family photography

Meet the Freemans, some of my favoritest people in the whole entire world. Leslie and I were bosom friends (anyone out there seen “Anne of Green Gables”?) in college and our husbands were best buds. Actually Adam (my hubby) and I were dating, then they started dating. God’s the one that actually put them together, but I’d like to think Adam and I had some kind of hand in it:) They’ve been overseas for the last three years, are back to visit for a few months and they stayed with us for three days. Since college, 7 years and 3.75 kids later, it felt like nothing had changed. Anyway, I was so honored when she asked me to photograph their sweet little family while they were visiting!

{booking fall sessions already} – fort worth senior photographer

As mentioned, I am less than three months until D-day (my baby’s due date). April 10th is supposedly the big day and I’ve got a zillion things to do before then (like update my blog- check!). I’m officially booked through my due date and am planning on taking some time off through the summer. I’m thankful for the time off to adjust to having TWO little ones (they’ll be 22 months apart) but I have a sneaky suspicion I’ll be REALLY ready to start shooting again after a few months.

I am planning to resume shooting again in the fall. If you’re interested in booking a session for the fall, I anticipate booking quickly so give me a call and we’ll talk! I’ve been booking 4 sessions per month (not necessarily one per week… just 4 per month). To make room for a new baby in my life  and keep my mommy role top priority, I‘m now booking only THREE sessions per month. So, if you would like to claim dibs on one of the three sessions in either September, October or November, give me a call to book and we can decide on a date the closer it gets.

You’ll notice my new blog border in the previous two posts. I’m so excited about it. Much improved from my old little watermark, don’t you think? I spent WAY too much time figuring it out, so I’m glad it’s finally in use!

27 weeks

My husband and I are addicted to cruises. We went on a cruise a couple weeks ago (our second cruise in six months!) and got some beautiful images. I can’t wait to weed through them to make available my favorites on the “art” gallery  on my website. But for now, I’ll post one this one of me:) I’ll post a few more fun snaps in a few days.

{big boy} – fort worth child photography

Well, my little Hudson is 18 months old and we’re welcoming baby #2 (still nameless) into our family in less than 3 months! I couldn’t resist showing a few favs from his 18 month portraits! I just LOVED this little red sweater and cords and was determined to have his portraits taken in them. Sadly, I think I’d waited just a little too long b/c his little stomach has filled out and was pooching out of both the pants and shirt. He’s definitely starting to fill out in the face and tummy.

{what a family!} – fort worth family photographer

One of the awesome privileges of my job is meeting/getting to know better my clients through the process of creating their precious portraits. This family was no exception. I actually have known them for a couple years and was SO excited when the mom asked me to photograph their family. As you’ll be able to see below, they are the COOLEST family EVER. They were absolute hoots and kept me laughing as they laughed. Alot of teens can be too “cool” for their family and pictures but these kids really enjoyed each other. I could brag all day long about them, but I’ll go ahead and let you see their family’s portraits!

The mom was the vision behind this shoot. She did a stellar job at thinking through the style she wanted to achieve with her portraits which included location and clothing. Such creativity. It was fun to shoot in a new location!

The  mom asked me about trying to produce a photograph similar to the “Abbey Road” road. Here was our best effort. Not bad:)

{love the fall} – tulsa family photographer

I photographed this sweet family earlier this month during a visit to our family in Tulsa. This park was incredible! It had it all- sadly most of it was not in good light so we were fairly confined to the “good light” areas. A bit sad, but a few of the shots captured the beauty  of the park.

And of course the girls had to play in the leaves.

The mom told her her younger girl has been in love with these fairy wings and thought they might go cute with my pettiskirt. So we put the two together and it couldn’t be a cuter duo!

{sweet, sweet kids} – fort worth family photographer

I photographed this sweet family recently and below are a few of my favorites of the kids. The sweet little boy had an amazing “serious” face- I’m a sucker for those so of course I had to post it!

But I also love little ones smiling when it takes over their entire countenance as above.

If anyone ever asks me after a family shoot with small children how it went, I’ll usually give the same answer: “WILD!”. Small children are just so full of energy! I loved this one above as it captured one of the little ones on the move (with her twin sister in the background looking on)… always on the move!

{another matilda jane} – fort worth children’s photographer

Another little Matilda Jane. The little sweater was actually not an MJ piece, but seeing as how it was a bit chilly that day, necessity won out.

And of course we got some of mommy and little Ms S.

{little matilda jane} – fort worth children’s photographer

Meet little Ms E. I recently hosted a Matilda Jane Clothing Trunk Show and E’s mommy ordered this super cute little outfit. So, of course, we had to have a little photoshoot to capture it all! We had a great time and captured some sweet moments…
